Welcoming a new class of Ponies
STILLWATER, Minn. -- April 26, 2024 -- Students from the Class of 2037 explored kindergarten classrooms on April 25-26 as part of Stillwater Area Public School's annual Kindergarten Orientation.
Taking place at all seven of the district's elementary schools, the future Ponies were able to meet with their teachers, made new friends, colored, played and posed for pictures to mark their special day. Parents were able to have questions answered about their children's school day, transportation, policies and procedures, and about resources offered at school and within the district.
Serving as a day to make parents and children more comfortable and prepared for the upcoming school year as a kindergartner, orientations are helpful to start building relationships at school. More opportunities for families comes in the summer when schools host Ready, Set, Go (RSG) conferences to connect students one-on-one with their teachers the week before school starts.
For families that were unable to attend the latest orientations:
- Make sure your child's immunizations are up-to-date or waivers are signed.
- Make sure your child has had a School Health Examination/Physical.
- If you haven't done so already, submit the School Health Examination Form (to be completed by your child's doctor) and a Student Immunization Form to your child's school at least one week prior to the start of school. These forms must be submitted before your child will be allowed to attend school.
- If you haven't done so already, make an appointment for an Early Childhood Screening which is required by the state in order to start kindergarten. Make an appointment HERE.
More information on Ready, Set, Go conference sign-ups will be sent to families directly by schools in the summer. We are so excited to welcome a new class of kindergarten students to Stillwater Area Public Schools this fall!
