Teachers have new Indigenous books to enrich curriculum

First Presbyterian Church in Stillwater has donated Indigenous books to Stillwater schools. The books were chosen with the guidance of Teaching and Learning staff along with Native American Student Alliance (NASA) advisor Joanna Tom. They feature engaging, diverse perspectives that will enrich student learning in social studies and science.

First grade teachers have access to "Bowwow Powwow," a playful introduction to Native American celebrations. Stillwater Area High School science teachers received "Braiding Sweetgrass," a blend of Indigenous wisdom and science. These books promise to spark curiosity, empathy, and understanding.

The donation is part of First Presbyterian's land acknowledgment, which recognizes and celebrates our community's rich Indigenous legacy.
