Caring for students with unique needs
We are proud to offer a comprehensive program for our students with disabilities - from birth to age 21. Special education services are provided in each District 834 school to support students who meet the Minnesota eligibility criteria of a student with a disability.
Our caring special education teachers, speech language pathologists, occupational and physical therapists, school psychologists, school nurses and other professionals provide instructional services and support to students and staff serving students.
Special Education is specialized instruction specific to the child at no cost to parents. The instruction is designed to meet the unique needs of a child with a disability. As much as possible, we strive to deliver necessary services to the student in the neighborhood school. In few occasions, students may need to be placed in another school site where more services are available.
Our services include home-based services for infants and toddlers, 1:1 instruction, small group instruction, instruction in the general education classroom and off-site instruction as determined by the student's individual education planning (IEP) team.
